Chisholm was born in Kentucky in 1866 and worked as a school teacher, an insurance agent, and a newspaper editor before becoming a minister. Despite his lack of formal theological training, Chisholm was a gifted writer and penned over 1,200 poems and hymns throughout his life.
"Great is thy Faithfulness" was inspired by the biblical passage found in Lamentations 3:22-23, which reads: "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Chisholm was struck by the enduring nature of God's faithfulness and how it is renewed each day.

What a blessing to know we have a pardon for sin and a peace that endures!! From that pardon, we experience God's own dear presence to cheer and guide us throughout our lives.
I'm so thankful that God not only saves us, but also sanctifies us drawing us closer to His side and conforming us into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
